Phillips scores the winning goal against Wolves in August.

Tony Pulis has certainly steadied the ship at Albion since his arrival, but the problem he is facing this year is the team’s effectiveness in the opposition penalty area.

New signings Rickie Lambert and Salomón Rondon so far have not set the league alight and Saido Berahino, who was the topic of a late transfer effort from Tottenham, only has three goals in 11 appearences.

With the strikers available in the squad not scoring, chance creation is proving to be a serious problem for the Baggies. Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips is said to be a long-term target, and he would be a perfect solution as his width and ability on the counter-attack would add a real attacking threat to the team.
