West Bromwich Albion take on Aston Villa in a West Midlands Derby at the Hawthorns, looking to pile more misery on the Premier League’s bottom club.

The Villans make the short four-mile trip sitting 10 points adrift of safety and with second-tier football looking almost impossible to avoid for the first time since 1988.

Remi Garde’s side can take heart from a run of four matches unbeaten in all competitions, including a first win in 19 league games over Crystal Palace and draw against title contenders Leicester City.

However, Villa haven’t won away from home since the opening day of the season, losing eight of their 11 trips on the road.

Meanwhile, the Baggies are hoping to claim a much needed victory to increase the gap between themselves and the bottom-three.

Tony Pulis’ side sit just six points above the drop after a heavy 3-0 defeat at Southampton, so will hope to secure a league double of their near rivals for the first time since 1973-74, following a 1-0 win at Villa Park back in September.

However, Albion are the third lowest scorers in the league with just 22, and all of their seven wins have come by just a single goal.

Team News:

Saido Berahino, who has been heavily linked with a move away in January, is available after illness, while the fit-again Ben Foster could be given the nod over Boaz Myhill in goal after playing in Tuesday’s FA Cup win at Bristol City.

However, James Morrisson is out for eight weeks with a knee injury, while Chris Brunt, Darren Fletcher and Jonas Olsson are doubtful.

Midfielder Carlos Sanchez will have a fitness test for Villa, but Alan Hutton, Adama Traore and Jordan Amavi remain sidelined.

Gabby Agbonlahor is also expected to still be unavailable to Garde as he continues to recover from a hip injury.
