West Ham United are in discussions to sign Lille striker Jonathan David in January, according to reports.

The Hammers currently sit fifth in the Premier League and just four points off a top-four place.

However, David Moyes’ side have only won one of their last six league matches, failing to net in three of those.

On top of that, top scorer Michail Antonio has failed to net in any of those games as the Jamaica international looks to rediscover his golden touch.

This could be why, according to Fichajes, the London side are looking to bolster their attacking ranks with the signing of David.

David currently tops the Ligue 1 scoring charts.

The Canadian international, 21, has been in top form for both club and country this season.

David is the top scorer in Ligue 1 this term and has scored 14 goals in 28 matches in all competitions, including three in six Champions League games.

It’s claimed that the Hammers are in negotiations over signing the prolific frontman but that Lille value their star in the region of £42.6 million.

David, who has also netted three times in six starts for Canada in World Cup qualifying, started his professional career with Gent but moved to France in 2020 after scoring 30 goals in 60 league games for the Belgian side.
