West Ham United have completed the £6 million signing of Olympiacos left-back Arthur Masuaku on a four-year deal.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic had been looking to sign a left-sided defender following the news that Aaron Cresswell could be out for up to four months with a knee injury sustained in a pre-season friendly earlier this summer, and the Frenchman could be in line to start the club’s first Premier League fixture of the season at Chelsea next Monday night.

The Irons, who had also been linked with a move for former Newcastle United defender Davide Santon, had right-back Sam Byram playing on the left for their Europa League qualifier against NK Domzale on Thursday night.

Masuaku, who began his career with French side Valenciennes before joining Olympiacos in 2014, has won back-t0-back titles with the Greek giants making more 74 appearances in all competitions in the process, including 12 in the Champions League, scoring two goals.
