West Ham have rejected a third bid from Marseille for Dimitri Payet.

According to a report in The Sun the French side offered 26 million euros for the midfielder- an increase of just 1 million euros on their previous bid.

West Ham are looking for £30m for Payet with the latest bid from Marseille working out at around £22m.

After being dragged into the controversy by the antics of the player West Ham are determined not to come out of the saga as the losers.

West Ham are furious about the way that Marseille have conducted their business but with only one real bidder they have to keep their thoughts private.

Payet was sold by Marseille for £10.75m in the summer of 2015 but it will take almost three times that figure to return the Frenchman to Lique 1.

Since returning from Euro 16 Payet has scored just twice in the Premier League despite being West Ham’s highest paid player on a reported £125,000/week deal.
