West Ham United are reportedly ready to rival Liverpool in the race to sign Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard on loan, according to Squawka, via the Sun.

Despite the 17-year-old starring in the Spanish giants’ International Champions Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain , manager Zinedine Zidane is keen for the 17-year-old to to leave the Bernabeu on loan for two seasons in order to gain some regular first-team football, which has alerted the Premier League duo.

The Hammers are looking for an attacking midfielder following the news that Manuel Lanzini could be out for five weeks after suffering a knee injury, and Slaven Bilic will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of talks between the Denmark international’s parents and Real which will determine the forward’s future.

Whichever club does bring the Dane in are understood to have to be willing to pay all of his £80,000-a-week wages, something that could put Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool off.
