Slaven Bilic’s West Ham secured their spot in next season’s Premier League with an impressive 1-0 victory over title contenders Tottenham last weekend.

The Hammers really needed a good performance to ease the pressure on the under-fire Bilic, and they produced exactly that with Manuel Lanzini’s goal enough to see the East London outfit move eight points clear of the drop with just two games to go.

And thoughts are already turning to next season with reports in The Daily Telegraph linking West Ham with Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old has forced his way back into Pep Guardiola’s thinking this season despite being frozen out in the first three months of the campaign, and he has come back with a bang by netting four goals in 22 Premier League appearances.

However, although the Ivorian has been a big part of the City side since his move in 2010, netting 81 goals in 295 games for the club, he has yet to agree a new deal at the Etihad Stadium, and Bilic’s Hammers are ready to pounce and bring him to the London Stadium this summer.

West Ham haven’t had the greatest of seasons under manager Bilic, winning just seven times at their new home in the league, and up until last Friday were still mathematically involved in a relegation scrap.

Nonetheless, in what has been a turbulent campaign, the Hammers can finally look ahead to next season, and a signing like Toure would certainly help them in their quest to move up to the next level.
