West Ham United are reportedly weighing up a move to bring back Switzerland international defender Johan Djourou to the Premier League this summer, according to Bild (via The Sun).

The Premier League side, who have slipped down to 12th in the top-flight standings following consecutive league defeats to the hands of Chelsea, AFC Bournemouth and Leicester City, have been linked with snapping up the Hamburg captain at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

The 30-year-old centre-half, who has 65 international caps for his country, has made just 16 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Djourou, who is set to become a free agent this summer upon the expiry of his current contract, played for Premier League rivals Arsenal between 2004 and 2014, whilst also enjoying a loan spell at Birmingham City back in 2007-08.

The report suggests the former Gunner has not confirmed whether he’ll be staying at the German side beyond this term, alerting The Hammers to his availability.
