Beijing Renhe are closing in on the £4m signing of Premier League striker Nikica Jelavic, according to the Daily Mail.

The Chinese second division outfit look set to become the latest Far East club to land a Premier League star following Chelsea midfielder Ramires’ move to Jiangsu Suning last month for a sensational £25m.

Jelavic; 30, who has 36 international caps for Croatia, has scored just three goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers so far this season.

The forward, who only arrived at Upton Park from Championship title contenders Hull City during the summer, is due to arrive in the Chinese capital to finalise the transfer later this week.

Beijing Renhe’s move for Jelavic allows to stand as the transfer window remains open over there until February 26.

They finished 15th in the Chinese Super League last campaign, meaning they were relegated into the China’s League One this term.

Jelavic has made 114 Premier League appearances to date, scoring 30 goals, during spells at West Ham, Hull and Everton.
