West Ham United are reportedly interested in making an audacious move for Belgium international striker Michy Batshuayi, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Premier League side, who narrowly fought off newly promoted Hull City 1-0 at the London Stadium on Saturday thanks to Mark Noble’s second-half penalty, have been linked with a surprise swoop for the out-of-favour Chelsea forward during the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who has nine international caps for his country, has scored three goals and provided one assist in 13 appearances in all competitions for The Blues so far this season.

Batshuayi, who arrived at Stamford Bridge back in July following his reported £33.2m switch from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, is firmly behind the in-form Diego Costa in the pecking order under manager Antonio Conte this term.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is in the market for a new striker, with the club set to terminate Simone Zaza’s loan deal from Serie A champions Juventus in the New Year.
