West Ham United have reportedly failed in their attempt to sign ex-Chelsea forward Gokhan Tore after their initial £7.4m offer was turned down.

The Premier League side, who defeated Liverpool 2-0 at the weekend to move up to sixth in the standings, have been monitoring the Besiktas winger since the summer transfer window closed.

The 23-year-old, who has 26 international caps for Turkey, has scored four and assisted five goals in 20 appearances in all competitions for the Super Lig outfit this season.

However Hammers boss Slaven Bilic, who worked with Tore during his spell in Turkey, is still hopeful of thrashing out a January deal for the Turkish forward who left Premier League rivals Chelsea back in 2011 after failing to make a single first-team appearance at Stamford Bridge.
