What’s Hot and What’s Not from Chelsea’s season so far

HOT – Every player has been outstanding

Some would argue that Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku have carried Arsenal and Everton respectively, yet it’s difficult to pinpoint one player as the reason for Chelsea being at the top.

That’s because every single player who has donned the blue of Chelsea in the last few months has played at their peak, and sometimes gone beyond that.

From Thibaut Courtois, who of course made that stunning save to deny Patrick van Aanholt at Sunderland in December, all the way through to Diego Costa, who has scored 15 league goals so far, they have all performed.

The back three of David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Gary Cahill have been magnificent, adapting to the back three role with ease, while the wing-backs of Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses have been outstanding, the latter particularly has been a revelation after a few years in the wilderness.

N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic are arguably the best central midfield pairing in the Premier League, with Kante picking up where he left off with Leicester, and Matic re-discovering his 2014/15 form, while the front three of Costa, Eden Hazard, and Pedro or Willian have netted 36 goals between them, and laid on 14 assists.

Conte deserves enormous credit for turning things around after a shaky September, and it looks like he will get the ultimate reward – the Premier League title.
