League Two Hot: Portsmouth

Pompey manager Paul Cook.

Will this finally be the year that Portsmouth escape the basement division of English professional football?

The Hampshire side have spent four seasons in the fourth-tier, however they could be in for a return to League One after scoring four away at Colchester United.

Paul Cook’s Pompey occupy third position in the division, the final automatic promotion spot following goals from Eoin Doyle, Kyle Bennett, Danny Rose and Michael Doyle, to complete the resounding victory in Essex.

The Fratton Park club lost out in the play-off semi-finals to Plymouth Argyle last season, so they will be hoping to go one better and climb out of the division.
