The first legs of the EFL Cup semi finals are out of the way, with both Manchester United and Southampton taking the advantage into the second legs against Hull and Liverpool respectively.

Jose Mourinho’s side got the action underway at Old Trafford on Tuesday night with Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini scoring to make sure that the Red Devils are firmly in control for their trip to the KCOM later this month.

On Wednesday night, an out of form Southampton side put their run behind them and turned in a impressive performance to take a 1-0 win to Anfield.

Claude Puel’s side could have easily had a bigger advantage going into the second leg, with the Loris Karius and the crossbar denying Nathan Redmond what could have been a famous hat-trick.

Hull, under new manager Marco Silva, have a lot to do when Mourinho pays a visit at the end of January, whilst Liverpool will need to start fast and catch the visitors out if they are to book a spot at Wembley.

With the first legs done and dusted, what is hot and what’s not? Take a look…
