HOT – Sadio Mane and Liverpool

Liverpool were in serious need of a victory to keep pace with the sides in the top four, and got a very good one over Tottenham on Saturday courtesy of a brace from Sadio Mane.

And the Senegalese international’s reminded many of how much the Reds missed him while he was away on international duty.

It was the 24-year-old’s excellent movement in behind the Spurs defence which saw him pick up Georginio Wijnaldum’s sensational through-ball for the opener, before being on hand to slot home the rebound from Roberto Firmino’s effort for the second, having started the move earlier on.

Mane was superb throughout the contest, constantly causing Ben Davies issues down the left through his pace and energy, which was exactly what Liverpool were missing throughout January.

Having him back will feel like a new signing, and it’s one that could reignite their top four charge over the coming weeks.
