Then: After attracting attention during Euro ’96, held in England, Nielsen signed for Tottenham from Brondby for a fee of around £1.65 million. The 1996 Danish Player of the Year quickly settled in at his new club and in his first season, managed a commendable six goals in 27 Premier League games. He was a very proficient player and was renowned for his long throw during his time at Spurs.

Now: Since 2014, Nielsen has been coaching at Tottenham in a technical position. He has also arranged several street football competitions. In terms of his playing career, he will be best remembered for his winning goal in the 1999 Worthington Cup Final. After leaving Tottenham in 2000, Nielsen went on to star for Watford, before finishing his career back in Denmark with Herfolge BK.
