Twenty-sixteen has been a year to forget for Manchester City so far in the Premier League, the turn of the calendar year saw the Citizens’ faint title hopes grind to a halt as Leicester City’s fairtytale season continued to dazzle.
Despite impressively fending off already crowned Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League to set-up their first-ever semi-final against La Liga giants Real Madrid earlier this week, Manuel Pellegrini’s side currently sit fourth in the Premier League standings, a whopping 15 points behind the league leaders with only six games remaining.
City have picked up 21 points from a possible 39 on offer so far this year, including four defeats, to leave their dreams of lifting the title for the third time in four years in tatters.
They have only managed to secure back-to-back league wins once since October 2015, defeating AFC Bournemouth (0-4) and West Brom (2-1) in their last two outings.
Despite the club’s Premier League title hopes being all but over, the Citizens still have an enthralling last-four clash against Madrid to look forward to in the European elite-club competition!
