With just six games remaining of the 2015-16 Premier League season; Newcastle United are plummeting towards relegation into the Championship next season, according to 2016’s form table.

The Magpies; who currently sit second bottom in the English top-flight standings, six points adrift of safety, haven’t had much to smile about since the appointment of former Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez as their new manager back on March 11 – succeeding Steve McClaren at the helm.

Since the turn of the new calendar year; United have picked up just eight points from a possible 39 on offer, losing nine of their 13 outings so far in 2016 – with three of those coming under the Spaniard’s current four-game reign, where Benitez picked up a sole point against arch rivals Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby last month (1-1).

All three points must be picked up against Swansea City at St James’ Park on Saturday if Newcastle have any chance of preserving their Premier League status beyond next month.
