Name: Jamie Vardy
There are plenty of admirable individuals and characters up at the King Power Stadium to choose from for this award; the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Robert Huth, Danny Drinkwater and Riyad Mahrez, but one man that can truly fire Leicester City to the 2015-16 Premier League title is star striker Jamie Vardy.
The 29-year-old, who has four international caps for England and is in firm contention to make the Three Lions’ squad for this summer’s UEFA European Championships in France, is the English top-flight’s top goalscorer this season with a remarkable 19 strikes in 26 appearances.
Vardy, who cost the Foxes a reported £1m back in May 2012 from then non-league outfit Fleetwood Town, has taken the Premier League by storm this campaign to catapult Claudio Ranieri’s men to the summit, currently two points clear of nearest title rivals Tottenham and Arsenal, who are level on 51 points.
So if Leicester really are to shock the world of football and beat English football’s ‘big guns’ to the Premier League title this May, Vardy will need to maintain his rich vain of form in front of goal for the final 12 league games and prevent getting injured.
