Charlie Austin scored the winner just minutes into his Southampton debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Southampton’s key man in their last six matches seems to have undoubtedly been goalkeeper Fraser Forster, who is yet to concede following a return from a long-term injury.

With Ronald Koeman’s team looking far more solid than they did at times earlier in the season, their key player in the final 12 games could well be one of their strikers.

Saints have scored three goals in their last four games, which has yielded an impressive 10 points, but there will come a time when they do concede, and they will need more than one goal at the other end.

Step forward, Charlie Austin. The £4 million January signing scored just minutes into his debut in the 1-0 win at Old Trafford, and now approaching full fitness, Koeman will be hoping that the 26-year-old, who proved he can score regularly in the top-flight with QPR last term, can help fire the South Coast club back into Europe.
