Carl Jenkinson pulled out of his proposed move to Crystal Palace after discovering that he was being offered £21,000/week less than Jeffrey Schlupp.

The incredible detail was revealed by Sky Sports after the full-back’s transfer from Arsenal collapsed despite the two clubs agreeing terms of the transfer.

Jenkinson worked with Sam Allardyce and was keen to get the chance to work again with the former England boss.

Negotiations seemed to be going well with Palace offering to pay Jenkinson £35,000 a week to switch across London- until the full back discovered that Schlupp had been offered £56,000/week.

After a stand off neither side was able to find a compromise with Jenkinson remaining at Arsenal when the transfer window closed.

Palace were able to strengthen their defence during the transfer window by signing Mamadou Sakho on loan from Liverpool but the deal will cost Palace a loan fee of £2m as well as matching the defender’s £100,000/week wages.
