The League One outfit, who currently sit ninth in the third-tier of English football following back-to-back draws, are interested in bringing in the Dutch forward on a temporary deal.

The 23-year-old, who arrived at The Riverside from Heerenveen only last September, has played just 45 minutes of Championship football for Boro under manager Aitor Karanka so far this season.

It is understood that a number of Championship and League One club have made enquiries over Wildschut’s availability, although Gary Caldwell’s Latics are confident of finalising a deal for the former Netherlands Under-21 international.
