Wolves have been linked with a surprise move for Leigh Griffiths.

According to a report in the Express & Star the striker is wanted back at Molineux despite being sold to Celtic in 2014.

After scoring 40 goals last season Griffiths has had to play second fiddle to Moussa Dembele and had a well publicised fall out with Brendan Rodgers after being substituted during the 5-0 win over Partick Thistle.

A 7am text message to Rodgers appears to have saved the day with Griffiths making a full apology after Celtic’s SPFL title presentation.

The Celtic boss is believed to be looking at fresh striking options which could put a question mark over the future of Griffiths.

Bringing in a 20 plus goalscorer would be a massive boost to Wolves’ promotion prospects but with doubt over the future of Paul Lambert and the club’s recruitment strategy in the public domain it’s unlikely that any business will be done in the short term.
