Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly edging closer to sealing the signing of Argentina striker Emiliano Sala, according to the Daily Mail.

The Championship side, who sit tenth in the current standings following last weekend’s 3-1 defeat against Cardiff City, are understood to be in talks with Nantes over a £3m January deal for the centre forward.

The 25-year-old, who began his career at Bordeaux, has scored just two goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit this season.

Sala, who has an Italian passport, has been identified as the latest forward by Wolves boss Kenny Jackett to replace former top goalscorer Benik Afobe following his £10m January switch to AFC Bournemouth.
