Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering signing former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi.

The 33-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

Now Kenny Jackett has offered the Nigeria international the chance to earn a contract at Molineux by inviting him to play for the Under-21s against Swansea on Monday.

The Championship side are keen to add another striker to their ranks after losing Nouha Dicko to injury for the rest of the season last month.

Ameobi helped Newcastle win the second tier in 2009/10, scoring 10 times in 18 league appearances.
