World Cup winner Victor Valdes is finally set to be handed an exit from his Premier League nightmare during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The Manchester United goalkeeper, who arrived at Old Trafford from FC Barcelona last January, has been frozen out of the first-team picture by manager Louis van Gaal since the summer.

The 34-year-old, who has 21 international caps for Spain, has made just two first-team appearances for United since arriving a year ago.

Valdes, who lifted the 2010 World Cup in Brazil, could be offered a loan move to Belgian outfit Standard Liege for the remainder of the 2015-16 campaign.

Premier League rivals Newcastle United were keen on offering Valdes an escape route out of Old Trafford earlier this month, but Red Devils boss Van Gaal prefers to offload the Spanish shot stopper to a club overseas.
