Liverpool face Aston Villa on Tuesday, knowing that failure to win would make their slim chances of winning the Premier League title even more remote.

The Reds slipped up on Saturday after a draw with Tottenham at Anfield, and now sit three points behind league leaders Manchester City with just three games remaining.

Jurgen Klopp’s side also have inferior goal difference to the Citizens, and will therefore likely need Pep Guardiola’s side to slip up more than once if they are to win their second Premier League title.

While their pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple is still the focus for Liverpool, it appears that they may have something else to worry about in the summer.

As per Sky Germany via Metro, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are set to make a move for Sadio Mane.

The report suggests that the German side have already made contact with the player’s representatives, and are plotting a huge move this summer.

Mane is being chased by Bayern Munich this summer

The 30-year-old’s current contract is set to expire next summer, but talks over an extension have proved difficult as the club have been focussed on extending Mohamed Salah’s deal, which is due to expire at the same time as Mane’s.

The Senegalese forward has reportedly grown frustrated at the situation, and Bayern are now looking to take advantage of that.

Mane has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season, taking his tally for the Reds to 118 goals in 265 games.

His goal and assist records have been crucial to Liverpool’s success over recent years, and the ex-Southampton man will likely feature in both the FA Cup and Champions League finals this month.

The forward is believed to be Bayern’s prime target for a ‘statement transfer’, and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic reportedly met with the player’s agents over the weekend.

Liverpool have not yet been contacted by the Bundesliga side, though, and it is believed that the Reds will return to focussing on both Salah and Mane’s contracts once their hectic month is over.
