At the moment, Chelsea don’t need many reinforcements, but Conte may look to strengthen his central midfield options should John Obi Mikel and Cesc Fabregas leave in January.

Both men have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge, even though Fabregas has played more in recent times, and any departure could see the Blues move for former Stoke man Steven N’Zonzi.

The 28-year-old was an integral part of the Sevilla side that won a third successive Europa League title last season, and played all six of their Champions League group games this time around, netting in their victory over Dinamo Zagreb to help seal second place in Group H.

Unsurprisingly, his excellent displays in the midfield has attracted interest from several top clubs, one of which is Chelsea.

Having many midfield options can only benefit the Blues in their title push in the second half of the campaign, so bringing in N’Zonzi, especially ahead of the likes Manchester City and Arsenal, would be a shrewd move from Conte.
