This was another deal that was regularly speculated upon over the past few months, but United didn’t sign Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann last month.

The French international scored 32 goals in just 54 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side last term, and then backed that up with six goals to help his country reach the European Championships final last summer.

Euro 2016’s top-scorer then parted company with his agent in September, and speculation has been rife ever since about his next move, with United repeatedly linked with the 25-year-old.

His relationship with Paul Pogba may help Mourinho get a deal done for Griezmann, who came third to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the Ballon d’Or awards last month, yet he’ll have to wait until the summer to try and bring the talented forward to Old Trafford.
