3 midfielders Tottenham should look to sign in January

Morgan Schneiderlin was a key cog in Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United midfield during the Dutchman’s tenure at Old Trafford, but Jose Mourinho has clearly got other ideas.

The 26-year-old, who signed from Pochettino’s former club Southampton in 2015, has appeared just five times for United this season, two of which have been from the start, and one of which being in the Premier League.

It’s quite surprising, given the inconsistent performances from Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba, that the French international hasn’t had more game time, especially given how impressive he was at Southampton, and indeed at times for United last season.

Nevertheless, it doesn’t appear that he has a future under Mourinho, and Pochettino could be tempted to reunite with his former Southampton midfielder at White Hart Lane.

Mourinho reportedly blocked an approach from Spurs in the summer for Schneiderlin, but things may change by the time January comes around.
