Another Southampton player who has been extremely hard done-by, Charlie Austin must be wondering what more he can do to get into the squad.

The 27-year-old has netted five times in the Premier League this season, which is one less than Jermain Defoe, and the same as West Ham’s Michail Antonio (both of whom are also very unfortunate not to make the squad).

Of the 25 men in the squad, only Theo Walcott has scored at least five times in the league this season, while the four strikers in the squad, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy, and Daniel Sturridge, have found the net eight times between them in the Premier League.

Austin’s form has been excellent for Southampton this season, and it’s staggering that he hasn’t been rewarded with a call-up.
