3 players unfortunate to miss out on Southgate’s latest England squad

Southampton’s Nathan Redmond has been in great form since his move to the South Coast in the summer, and is revelling in the faith placed in him by new manager Claude Puel.

The 22-year-old made a big-money move to St Mary’s in June, and there was a bit of pressure on his shoulders after several good showings for former club Norwich, and indeed numerous caps for the England Under-21 side.

However, Redmond has lived up to the billing so far and, in the more advanced role alongside fellow Englishman Charlie Austin, he has started the season particularly well.

When you look down the 25-man squad, there are some players less deserving of a place than the omitted Redmond.
