3 potential replacements for Manchester United’s David De Gea

Kasper Schmeichel

Leicester City had a very poor campaign this year, but whereas the performance levels of most their players have dropped, Kasper Schmeichel has thrived in goal.

Now 30 years of age, Schmeichel has only spent three full seasons in the Premier League. But he has certainly made his mark.

Last season, he was a reliable figure in goal as Leicester pulled off the biggest shock in footballing history by winning the league. This term he improved further; being named Leicester Players’ Player and Player of the Season.

It would make sense for Schmeichel to join United. His father, Peter, played for the club between 1991-1999 and has gone down as one of the best goalkeepers in their history.

Although Kasper has not yet enjoyed the same success of his father, he has shown his quality over the past two years after two superb seasons with The Foxes.

There is potential for a mass exodus at Leicester this summer. From their title-winning squad, N’Golo Kante and Claudio Ranieri have already departed. Could Schmeichel be next?
