They couldn’t, could they?

National League side Sutton United knocked League One outfit AFC Wimbledon out of the competition in the last round, winning 3-1 at Kingsmeadow in the replay, and they’ll certainly hope that they can use some of the cup’s magic against Leeds on Sunday.

Paul Doswell’s side held the Dons to a 0-0 draw at home in the first match, but the visit of Garry Monk’s Leeds, the 1972 FA Cup winners, is sure to bring the best out of Sutton.

Form would suggest that this is only going one way.

Sutton have only won one of their last four league games, and just three of their seven matches in 2017, while Monk’s Leeds beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Elland Road on Wednesday to record their fourth win in five matches.

These two met at this stage of the competition 47 years ago when Don Revie’s Leeds thumped Sutton 6-0 – how Sutton would love to exercise some revenge and use of the magic of the cup to reach the last 16 this weekend!
