Great record versus the top sides

Liverpool’s record against the top sides in the country will fill them with great confidence ahead of Saturday’s encounter.

They have won two and drawn two of their four games against the current top six this season, with wins at Arsenal and Chelsea intertwined with draws at Tottenham and against Manchester United.

Add in last season’s efforts after Klopp took charge, and it makes even better reading.

Klopp oversaw eight games against the aforementioned five teams, winning three and drawing four of them, with their only blot the 1-0 defeat to United back in January.

That means that, since taking over at Anfield, Klopp has lost just one of 12 matches against the top sides, and Liverpool are now seen as a side for the big occasion.

They beat City both home and away last season, scoring seven goals in the process, and they’ll hope to keep up their good record against both the Citizens and the top sides on New Year’s Eve.
