3 reasons why Manchester City can still catch Premier League leaders Chelsea

Frightening front three

Guardiola first played the front three of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, and Gabriel Jesus in the FA Cup against Crystal Palace, and their work as a frontline was frighteningly good.

They battered Palace 3-0 and then followed that up with an even more impressive dismantling of an in-form West Ham last week, with once again the front three causing all sorts of problems.

Jesus gives them a focal point to work around, given that he is strong and can hold defenders off, as well as retaining the ball under pressure and looking for the runners wide of him, while Sane and Sterling have the pace and trickery to get into great positions down the flanks, and indeed in the box.

It is still very early days in their partnership, and their tailing off as games go on will be of concern to Guardiola, but when these three have been on it, they have been frighteningly good, and many defences will struggle to contain them when they are on their game.
