Manchester City desperately needed that victory in midweek.

Guardiola’s side got the better of Watford 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday to pick up their first league win at home since September 17 and, although it wasn’t the most convincing of displays, it was all about getting the three points.

Not only that, but it gives them something to build on going forward, starting with the visit of Arsenal on Sunday.

The likes of David Silva and Raheem Sterling had good games against the Hornets on Wednesday and, although Sunday will be a tougher test, winning breeds confidence, and they’ll need that confidence against a top Arsenal side this weekend.

The win, coupled with the Gunners’ loss at Everton, already gives the hosts a slight edge as they are coming into this one with that little bit more confidence.
