5 things we learned from Huddersfield Town v Port Vale

Vale’s struggling strike force

Port Vale currently have only one recognised striker on their books. This is not helped by their insistence to play 4-4-2.

With former on-loan striker and top scorer for the season Alex Jones moving to Bradford City, veteran midfielder Jerome Thomas is being forced to play up front alongside Rigino Cicilia.

Jones had scored 10 of Vale’s 33 goals this season before departing, leaving the rest of the squad with a lack of goals to their name.

The visitors only managed one shot on goal all game, a volley from defender Kjell Knops, which rolled straight at Town ‘keeper Joel Coleman.

If Vale fail to sign a couple of new strikers in January, then they are essentially nominating themselves to be in a League One relegation battle.
