Manchester United are reportedly linked with Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Netherlands international has been highly linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer – potentially following fellow Ajax player Frenkie de Jong to the Catalan giants.

However, it is now reported that the Amsterdam club’s captain’s agent would prefer to see move to Manchester United, Juventus or Bayern Munich, who have also been linked.

It is clear that the 19-year-old is a prime target for many top European clubs following his impressive performances at domestic and European level.

De Ligt is Ajax’s captain at just the age of 19.

Ajax recently beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals with De Ligt putting in another solid display.

Agent Mino Raiola also looks after Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, therefore having a good relationship with United.

This could see De Ligt make a surprising move to Old Trafford where Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to re-build in the summer.

United are currently sixth in the Premier League and are three points off a Champions League spot.

A poor run of form from the Manchester club could see new singings being prepared for next season but they would also face strong competition for the talented Dutchman.
