Tottenham are reportedly set to enter the race to sign Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The Premier League side, who were eventually pipped to second spot in the English top-flight standings by North London rivals Arsenal on the final day of the 2015/16, are considering a move to lure the Borussia Dortmund midfielder to White Hart Lane.
The 27-year-old, who has 58 international caps for his country, scored a remarkable 23 goals and provided 32 assists in 52 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit this season.
Mkhitaryan, who helped Dortmund knock Tottenham out of the UEFA Europa League last-16 back in March, is also said to be attracting interest from Spurs’ fiercest rivals Arsenal this summer.
The report suggests that the Armenian ace has dashed thoughts of discussing a new deal with the German club, with his current contract due to expire next year, alerting the likes of Spurs, the Gunners and Serie A champions Juventus to his availability.
