Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has responded to pleas from the fans and splashed the cash to bring Deportivo striker, Lucas Perez in to add to his attacking armoury, according to The Sun.

The Gunners boss has reportedly met the striker’s £17m release clause to beat Premier League rivals, Everton, who had been heavily linked with a £15m move, to a deal for the 27-year-old.

The former Atletico Madrid youth player, has 24 La Liga goals to his name, including one during this season’s league opener against Eibar on Friday, in what may well have been his last appearance for Deportivo.

The North London outfit have been desperately chasing a striker all summer, whilst also trying to resolve a defensive crisis, having attempted to bring in Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, being beaten to Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain and reportedly giving up on a deal for French international, Alexandre Lacazette.

It is unlikely that a deal will be done in time for Perez to make an appearance in the Gooners’ third Premier League outing against Watford on Saturday.

If we can call spending 17 m is splashing cash, what a shame!. Wenger is just adding another Giroud to calm down the fans! If he wants to be feared by Mourinho, Pep and Conte that is not the striker he needs. Why not bringing in James under a loan contract with buy option? That is the type of player to scare the rivals!
