Arsenal look ready to join the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, according to the Mail Online.

Herrera is out of contract in the summer and he seems no closer to penning a new deal despite 18 months of negotiations.

It’s claimed that the former Athletic Bilbao star, who moved to United in 2014, wants a wage increase from £80,000 per-week to £150,000 per-week.

This means the Red Devils are in danger of losing the Spaniard on a free transfer at the end of the season – news which has led to the 29-year-old’s representatives holding talks with Paris Saint-Germain.

However, reportedly Arsenal have thrown their hat into the ring as Unai Emery plans to boost his squad this summer.

Herrera is in his fifth season with Manchester United.

Despite a restrictive transfer budget, the Gunners would be able to offer Herrera what he is demanding due to the fact that no fee would be involved.

Also Aaron Ramsey’s move to Juventus in the summer means the North London club have more to play with in their wage budget.

Herrera has regained his place in the starting XI since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho in December and now sits on 186 appearances for the club.
