Arsenal must snap up these 2 La Liga stars in January

Although Shkodran Mustafi has come in and done well for Arsenal since his move from Valencia in the summer, a few shaky displays in recent weeks suggests that Wenger may need more defensive cover.

The German has looked particularly sluggish against pace in the last few games, which seems to be a regular theme with Arsenal centre-backs, yet the quick and positionally aware Jose Gimenez could go some way to addressing that issue.

The Atletico Madrid defender has been out of favour under Diego Simeone this season, as he struggles to get the better of first choice centre-backs Diego Godin and Stefan Savic.

Nonetheless, Gimenez has proved in his time in the Spanish capital to be a solid defender and, although there have been a few disciplinary issues, he’d be a great addition to the Gunners back four.
