Arsenal are reportedly ready to launch a £50 million move for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi should a deal for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette fail to materialise, according to the Daily Star on Sunday.

The Gunners had a £29.3 million bid for Lacazette turned down by the Ligue 1 club last week but it remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will return with a larger offer for the £42 million-rated front man.

Should he not, the French boss is rumoured to be a big fan of Icardi, with Inter president Erick Thohir saying he is willing to sell the Italian attacker this summer – for the right price.

The 23-year-0ld, who is also a target for Napoli as they look for a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, has scored 52 goals in 101 games in all competitions for the Italian giants since joining them from Sampdoria in 2013.
