Arsenal are reportedly ready to launch a £12 million bid for Manchester City defender Jason Denayer, according to the Sun.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is understood to be looking for a young player who is versatile right across the back four this summer, and has identified the Belgium international – who has seven caps for his country – as a potential target.

The Belgian, who was one of the players at fault for Hal Robson Kanu’s goal in his nation’s Euro 2016 quarter-final defeat to Wales this summer, is said to be keen on a move away from City as he searches for regular first team football, although it remains to be seen whether he would be allowed to join one of their main English top-flight rivals.

The 21-year-old spent the 20145/15 campaign on loan at Celtic, where he made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals, before he a similar spell away from the Etihad last term at Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he played 28 times.
