Arsenal are understood to be interested in landing Switzerland international Granit Xhaka this summer, according to Sky (Germany).

The Premier League side, who currently sit third in the English top-flight standings, but are 11 points adrift of league leaders Leicester City with only eight games remaining, have been linked with a future move for the Borussia Mönchengladbach star.

The 23-year-old, who has 39 international caps for his country and is set to feature for Switzerland at Euro 2016 later this year, has scored three goals and provided one assist in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Xhaka, who is contracted to the German club until 2019, is wanted by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger as a long-term replacement for the likes of Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini at the Emirates Stadium.

So much so; the report suggests that Arsenal are ready to pay around €43m for the Swiss star’s services this summer.

Cazorla has another 5 years in him. Note the difference when he became unavailable. What we do need is a big beast in midfield to enable our skilled players to play. Wenger should have bought Wanyama direct from Celtic (or similar). Still … it was only when he stumbled upon Coq that he had to concede the fans were right – we had needed a real dmf for the previous 5 years !!
