Arsenal are reportedly closely monitoring Armenia international star Henrikh Mkhitaryan ahead of the forthcoming summer transfer window, according to the Guardian.

The Premier League side, who currently lie third in the English top-flight standings, but 11 points adrift of surprise league leaders Leicester City with a game in hand, are interested in recruiting Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder once the 2015-16 campaign concludes.

The 27-year-old, who captains his country and has 57 international caps to his name, has scored an impressive 20 goals and provided 24 assists in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Mkhitaryan; who is under contract at the German club until 2017, has been watched by the Gunners’ scouting team, plus been tracked via video clips throughout the course of this campaign.

With Arsenal likely to lose fellow midfielders Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky this summer, boss Arsene Wenger is keen on sealing a deal to bring the Armenian ace to the Emirates Stadium.

Comment: Am very sure that Wenger is only scouting these players for other big clubs to buy. He will not buy! How would you explain a manager of a big club of Arsenal calibre, could not identify the lapses of his team even when those lapses were so obvious to a lay man on the street. He ( Wenger ) is too comfortable at his job, he needs to be shaken into reality or shaken out of the job for the club to have focus. He has nothing left in his tank to offer. He can’t win the premiership nor champions league with the set of players as BFG and Gabriel. The team needs total overhauling since two seasons ago and if was done, by now we ought to be singing Hallelujah.
