Arsenal’s top transfer target this summer, Granit Xhaka, reportedly wants his future sorted before Euro 2016, according to the Daily Star.

The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder is understood to be on the verge of a £33million move to the Emirates Stadium, but the 23-year-old wants the move to be completed before he appears for Switzerland at the European Championships in France next month.

The Swiss star said: “It will be better for me if I go into such a big tournament with no worries in my mind.”

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his team after another disappointing season that will end trophy-less, as well as the potential of finishing behind north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League for the first time since 1995.

Xhaka, who has made 134 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit since joining them from Basel in 2012, scoring nine goals, could be the first arrival at Arsenal this summer.

I always get the impression that Wenger will not do what other people want him to do. I think he believes that he above being critised or given advice. I believe that it is always better to sign a player early and so give him time to integrate with the squad and the area he will be living in for the next few years, before the season starts. That being said, if we do sign this player I will expect Wenger to complete the deal on the last day of the window.
