Aston Villa are interested in signing Croatia international Lovre Kalinic during the January transfer window, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who lie ten points adrift of safety at the bottom of the standings following their 1-1 draw with Leicester City at the weekend, are keen on bringing in a new goalkeeper this month to aid their fight for survival.

The 25-year-old, who has two international caps for his country, has impressively kept 14 clean sheets in 28 appearances in all competitions for Hajduk Split this season.

Kalinic, who stands tall at 6ft 7in and who is valued at around £3m, is wanted by Villa boss Remi Garde after dropping regular number one Brad Guzan this campaign for substitute shot stopper Mark Bunn.
