West Ham looked stronger in the midfield since they went to three at the back, and it also saw Havard Nordtveit’s game time significantly reduce.

The 26-year-old, who signed on a free in the summer, has started four times for the Hammers in the Premier League this season, but all them were prior to the system change made by Bilic.

Since then, he’s been restricted to just two substitute appearances in the league and, although he has struggled in his first few months in England, Hammers boss Bilic will need to know whether Nordtveit is up to it should he be called upon in the first team.

Only minutes on the pitch against a strong side will give him that knowledge.
